Workshop #2 Topics:
Stream Table: Why do Streams Move and What Can You Do?
Do you have a stream on your property? Want to see how stream management effects erosion using a stream table (a miniature simulator)?
Streams are dynamic systems that react to our management actions. The stream table, run by experienced CCEUC educators, provides a way to witness the natural processes of erosion, transport, and deposition of sediment. It also gives a glimpse into what happens when we build roads next to streams and bridges over them, the effects of covering a streambank is rip-rap (large, angular rocks), and why vegetation is the best defense against streambank erosion.
