Workshop #2 Topics:

Stream Table: Why do Streams Move and What Can You Do?

Do you have a stream on your property? Want to see how stream management effects erosion using a stream table (a miniature simulator)?
Streams are dynamic systems that react to our management actions. The stream table, run by experienced CCEUC educators, provides a way to witness the natural processes of erosion, transport, and deposition of sediment. It also gives a glimpse into what happens when we build roads next to streams and bridges over them, the effects of covering a streambank is rip-rap (large, angular rocks), and why vegetation is the best defense against streambank erosion.

Did you know that some clothes could be polluting our water every time you wash them?
Learn how to use a microscope to look for microplastics in water samples. Learn where microplastics come from and the impact they have on health and the environment. Also, you’ll learn how you can make more sustainable choices.
